High Blood Pressure? What to Know Before Your First Fire & Ice
By SoliVana Wellness · November 3, 2026

If you have high blood pressure, talk with your physician before your first Fire & Ice visit. That is not a formality on our side: our client agreement asks anyone with high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes, and older guests, to speak with a physician first. This post covers what the suite actually involves, so you can have that conversation with real details in hand.
For the physiology of cold water and blood pressure, read our earlier guide, Is Cold Plunging Safe With High Blood Pressure? This one is the practical follow-up.
What does a Fire & Ice session involve?
Fire & Ice is a private suite with a full-spectrum infrared sauna and a cold plunge. You move between the two at your own pace for the length of your booking, 45, 60 or 90 minutes.
- The infrared sauna reaches up to 150°F. Time in the sauna is limited to 45 minutes.
- The cold plunge is held between 48 and 54°F. Each immersion is limited to 5 minutes, one person at a time.
- The suite is private. No staff member is in the room with you, and there is no lifeguard on duty.
Those are the numbers to share with your physician. Ask them how long, how cold and how often makes sense for you.
What we ask you to do before you book
- Get your physician's view first. Bring the details above to the conversation.
- Tell us about your health when you book. Our client agreement asks every guest to share any condition that could affect their safety, and to update us when something changes.
- Hydrate. We ask every guest to drink at least 8 oz of water before and after sauna time.
- Skip it on an off day. If you feel unwell, light-headed or simply not right that day, call us at 650-564-4325 to reschedule. Our usual cancellation and rescheduling policy applies.
Inside the suite: keep it easy
Because the suite is yours alone, you set the pace. You can stay in the sauna, take a short plunge, or skip the cold entirely and simply rest. You never have to use the full 5 minutes in the water, and there is no prize for the coldest or longest plunge.
Stop right away and get out if you feel dizzy, light-headed, overheated or uncomfortable in any way. Every guest agrees to this when they sign our client agreement.
Starting with heat only
If your physician would rather you avoid cold water for now, the infrared sauna is still there. A Fire & Ice booking does not require you to use the plunge, and the 45-minute Solo Small suite is the shortest option.
